    Led by Dr. Susan Broner, Manhattan Headache Center believes that a “wellness” approach is the most effective means of alleviating headache pain and we seek to provide our patients access to advanced, coordinated complementary care. Research in the field of headache management has demonstrated efficacy in the use of complementary medicine in the treatment of headache pain. The Manhattan Headache Center has partnered with alternative care practitioners to implement traditional and alternative care practices to alleviate headache pain.

    Along with Botox and Nerve block treatments, the Manhattan Headache Center offers treatment in acupuncture, biofeedback, medical massage and nutrition programs.


    We are pleased to announce that Susan Antelis, MPS, BCB,BCN, LMHC, has established the Biofeedback Migraine Headache Program at the Manhattan Headache Center.  A leader in the New York biofeedback community, Susan is Board Certified Specialist in both biofeedback and neurofeedback.

    More About Biofeedback Therapy and Headache Care

    Biofeedback is a non-drug treatment approach to self-management of acute and chronic pain. The use of biofeedback in the treatment of headaches has been supported by numerous research studies. A review by the US Headache Consortium concludes that use of Biofeedback in the treatment of headaches reveals a consistent pattern of efficacy.

    At the Manhattan Headache Center our certified Biofeedback specialist trains patients to control and modify the involuntary biological processes associated with migraines and headaches. After a number of sessions, patients are able to utilize learned techniques to reduce the frequency and severity of headaches.

    Biofeedback offers the following benefits:

  • It is noninvasive
  • It may be reduce/eliminate medication utilization especially for patients with medication intolerance.

  • Acupuncture

    Acupuncture is an alternative medical treatment. It has been deemed by the National Institute of Health to be of considerable value and worth establishing into conventional medicine. Through penetrating the skin at specific points and manipulating energy flow patterns in the body, acupuncture can allow relief via anatomical stimulation.
    In headache care, acupuncture has the potential to alleviate pain. According to the World Health Organization recommendations; acupuncture should be used to treat migraine headache. A 2009 Cochrane Review has shown that acupunctural therapy can provide treatment in patients that suffer from tension and migraine headaches. At the Manhattan Headache Center acupunctural specialists through a number of sessions strive to offer headache pain relief.
